Terms of Use
Last updated: April 16, 2026
By accessing and using this website and any content provided by Tim Murphy / Pre-Fire Systems ("we," "us," or "our"), including "The Homeowner's Defensible Space Blueprint" (the "Blueprint"), you agree to the following terms.
Educational & Informational Purposes Only
All content on this website and in the Blueprint — including text, graphics, guides, checklists, and recommendations — is provided strictly for general educational and informational purposes. It is based on Tim Murphy's professional experience as a Certified Fire Investigator, Licensed General Contractor, and Certified Master Inspector.
This content does not constitute professional fire safety consulting, engineering advice, building code compliance guidance, or a guarantee of protection against wildfire. Every property, terrain, climate condition, and fire event is different.
No Guarantee of Protection
While the strategies described in the Blueprint and on this website are based on decades of field experience and are consistent with widely accepted wildfire mitigation practices, no guide, system, or set of actions can guarantee that a home will survive a wildfire.
Nature has the final say. In truly extreme conditions — high winds, prolonged drought, unprecedented ember showers — some fires cannot be stopped regardless of preparation. What defensible space and home hardening do is dramatically reduce risk and improve your home's odds. That reduction in risk is real and significant, but it is not absolute.
Consult Local Professionals
Before making modifications to your property, you should:
- Consult your local fire department or fire marshal for area-specific guidance
- Check local building codes and HOA regulations before structural changes
- Hire licensed professionals for any work beyond basic landscaping and maintenance
- Contact your insurance provider to understand how mitigation affects your coverage
Local conditions, building codes, and fire regulations vary significantly by jurisdiction. The Blueprint provides general guidance — your local authorities provide the specifics.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tim Murphy, Pre-Fire Systems, and any affiliated parties shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from:
- Your use of or reliance on the content of this website or the Blueprint
- Any actions you take or fail to take based on the information provided
- Property damage, personal injury, or loss of any kind related to wildfire events
- The accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information provided
You acknowledge that wildfire preparedness involves inherent risks and uncertainties, and you assume full responsibility for any decisions and actions you take based on the information provided.
